Solving PYQs (Previous Year Questions) is one of the most useful ways to prepare for your Class 12 board exams. It helps you understand what kind of questions are asked, which topics are important, and how to write better answers.
But many students are confused about how many PYQs
they should solve to get good marks. The truth is, there is no fixed number.
However, there is a smart way to plan it.
1. Start with the Last 5 Years
Try to solve Class 12 previous question
papers from at least the last 5 years. These papers give you a
good idea of repeated topics and how the question pattern has changed. You will
also notice which chapters are asked more often. This helps you revise smartly.
2. Weekly Practice is a Must
If your exam is 2–3 months away, solve 1–2 PYQs per
subject every week. This will improve your speed and help you understand how
much time you take to answer different types of questions. You won’t feel too
tired, and you’ll still be improving each week.
3. Mock Exam Practice in the Final Month
In the last month before your boards, try to solve
full papers like an actual exam. Sit for 3 hours, avoid breaks, and follow the
same pattern as the board exam. Do at least 3–4 full papers per subject. This
will help you manage time and reduce exam fear.
4. Learn from Your Mistakes
Just solving papers is not enough. After each one,
check your answers and find out where you lost marks. Go back and revise those
topics again. This is how you improve step by step.
Final Thoughts
You don't have to solve too many PYQs. What is
important is learning from each one of them. Begin early, practice hard, and do
not worry. This will assist you in making you confident and prepared for your
Class 12 board exams.
